Referencing text blocks from one document in several

    Hello,

I am currently writing text descriptions in six different Word files. Sometimes I use the same text block in all documents. Usually, I write it in one file and then copy paste it in the others. If I change something in the text block, I need to copy paste this part in all documents.

Is there a way to reference a text block from one file in other documents? Also, all changes made to the referenced block should affect the other documents which reference it as well. What is the easiest way to do this, if possible?

Edit: Using Word2010 on Windows 10.

You can do this using bookmarks and INCLUDETEXT fields. Simply bookmark each range in the source document that you want to replicate in one or mopre output documents then, in a given output document, insert an INCLUDETEXT field at an appropriate location pointing to the relevant bookmark in the source document. For further details, see:

Note: Using INCLUDETEXT fields means you can also update the corresponding bookmarked range in the source document from any of the output document. You do that by making the edit within the INCLUDETEXT field then pressing Ctrl-Shift-F7.
