Cool Is there a way to open up a template as a template directly?

    Hi guys,

To open up a Word template (as a template):
I need to open up Word software, and then go to the directory folder and open up the template that way.

Is there another way to open up a template (as a template, not as a document 1.docx file)

    Thanks,
    Jimmy

Just found a slightly faster method. I would still love some feedback from someone, if they have any ideas.

    1/ Open up MS word
2/ drag and drop the template into word

pretty quick, but just wondering there are alternative now.

    Thanks,
    Jimmy

You could use File|Open and use the 'template' file type filter.

I can't seem to find a 'template' file type filter within File>Open

    Of course. (MS Word 2016)

File>Open brings up the following screen:
    fileOpen.png

There doesn't seem to be a filter anywhere.

It's on the dialog box you get when you pick the location you want to open the file from.

And what that's doing is allowing you to choose the template from the recent list and open it for editing. You should delete the template from that list and either double-click on the template or use File|New and use the tools there to select it or, once you've saved a document created from the template, use File|Open on that. the only time you should use File|Open on a template is when you want to open it for editing. This is really basic Office stuff - the same principles apply in Excel...
