Word always converting my printout to Landscape

The problem is that Word has coded into it the assumption that the larger
dimension is in fact the page height, so you have to figure out how to
print whatever you want that way.

In my particular case, I'm using a card that unfolds into two sections, so now I am
printing

PHP Code: 

Width: 4.88
Length: 7.00 


It's length kept the Orientation as "Portrait", but I had to move the printing
to the bottom half of the card.

It works, but why would M/S have set it up that way?
