Is it possible to draw lines that are 2 different colors?

    Hello all!

I swear I used to be able to do this in my old version of Word, but can't figure it out anymore. I now have Word 2010, but only the starter version. (Didn't want to spend the money on the full version. This may be where my problem lies.)
I want to be able to draw a winding line that is in 2 different colors. Previously, I had figured out how to make it have a pattern of dots, cross-hatched, plaid... whatever, with the background blue and the dots or pattern lines being red. Or have 1 side of the line blue and the other side red - divided down the center of the line. I really don't care HOW the 2 colors get created, I'd just like to be able to do it.

Is this possible in "Starter" or the full version? Or did MS make it not possible at all?

    Thanks!

    Jenny

    Hi zookeepertx,

Is this what you are doing?

Can't you simply change the color of the shape object?

No, those are the easy parts. Hopefully I can get an image to show up here to give an idea of what I'm thinking.

If you switch out of compatibility mode, you can use the shape formatting tools to, for example, use a compound line style and use the shadow tool to apply an alternate shadow colour with 0% blur. See attached.
