    Using Section Page Numbers and Document Page Numbers In Footer

    I have a document that needs to contain a section with page numbers starting from 1. The problem is that I want to display the page numbers within the section (i.e. starting at 1 to the number of pages in the section) and the page number within the whole document. I have seen this done in other documents but I can't seem to work out how to do it. If I am not explaining myself well enough here is what I am trying to do (footer contents in brackets):
    • First Page (Page 1)
    • Second Page (Page 2)
    • Third Page And Start Of New Section (SubPage 1, Page 3)
    • Forth Page (SubPage 2, Page 4)
    • Fifth Page And End Of Section (Page 5)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jan,

    Basically, what you need to do is to insert an ordinary set of {PAGE} and {NUMPAGES} fields for the 'Page X of Y' display for the overall document, then insert:
    • a SET field into each Section's header or footer (which will need to be unlinked from the previous Section), coded along the lines of {SET Section{SECTION} {SECTIONPAGES}};
    • a field coded along the lines of {={PAGE}-Section1-Section2} with deductions expressed as '-Section#' for however many previous Sections there are, to generate the 'X' part of the 'Page X of Y' display for the Section; and
    • a {SECTIONPAGES} field for the 'Y' part of the 'Page X of Y' display for the Section.

    Note: The field brace pairs (ie '{ }') for the above examples are created via Ctrl-F9 - you can't simply type them or copy & paste them from this message.
    Cheers,
