Excel alphabetizes my names data in 2 lists instead of one

When I alphabetize (filter/sort) my address list in excel, the result is TWO listings of names from A to Z...Approximately half of the list is organized a to Z then the other half following. I am hoping to get 1 A to Z list with approx 1000 names with email addresses alphabetized instead of 2 500 name lists.
