Macro to save changes from dotm template to new docx file

    Hi,

I wonder if someone can help me here: I have created a Word document as a dotm template which contains macros such that when a user clicks one of the buttons to automatically insert autotext according to a contract type. I then want the user to be prompted to save this dotm template as a new docx file but without saving the changes (i.e., insertion of contract type autotext) in the previous dotm file.

The idea is to leave the dotm file as it was for the next user to run another contract type macro and again save as a new docx file. and so on. I have tried unsuccessfully thus far to record a macro to save the template as a new docx file as it does not seem to work by navigating to the File and save as menu. By the way I am using Word 2010.
    many thanks. Pius.

Unless you're opening the dotm file for editing (an unusual practice), the file created from it won't be a dotm file - by default it will be a docx file.
