    Entering text on shapes

    Hi

I am (unusually for me) using Word (there is no option) but I am struggling with a simple diagram. It includes an arrow (left to right) from the shapes menu which is then rotated to point down diagonally at 30 degrees from the horizontal. I need to enter text within the arrow but it does not allow for that. I know how to do it in Excel and I have tried various things such as drawing it in Excel and then copying and pasting in Word but the arrow is always distorted. I have tried text box but to no avail.

All I want is an arrow with "Direction of Motion" within it. What am I missing please.

    Many thanks

Combine the arrow shape with a word art object and group them:

Thanks for that Ben but it's not really what I need. I should have explained myself better and included an example. which I now do.

Despite my modest abilities with Excel I really do need to be led though this if needs be. I've tried applying your method to the block arrow and then using word art text but can't get them to group. I've done it using a drawing canvas but no.

    Thanks for your input.

    Regards

Here's mine: note that the word art objects are on the far right of the Insert menu. In your example, you only have one object, the arrow shape. You entered the text in its own text box. My examples use TWO separate objects/shapes. Also note that Word Art is found at the right of the Insert menu.

Thanks for that. I think that's what is required and whilst I am still struggling to create it myself a simple copy and paste of your work will do I think.

    Thanks again.
