How do I remove bullet points similarly to pressing backspace at the start of a paragraph?

Hi,
I have created a bullet list using

selectNewText is a range spanning multiple paragraphs. I need the bullet point to be on the first paragraph only. I have tried to remove superfluous bullets like this:

Please Login or Register  to view this content.

But this is not the same as removing bullets by pressing backspace at the start of a paragraph - the text indentation is not the same as that of the first paragraph.

Any ideas how to remove bullets similarly to pressing backspace at the start of a paragraph?
