Update Text fields from dropdown menu automatically

I have a word document with a drop down menu, and a text field that references the drop down, i am trying to have it automatically update, currently i have to use the tab key to exit, which the drop down fires a macro on exit. but i am trying to have it automatically update when the drop down changes. Would it be a simple modification to the code for the macro, or does the code need to be referenced in the document under a change event and run the macro?

A second Issue i am experiencing is having the text field update correctly with the correct data. The drop down has 2 choices, and the text box needs to update accordingly. so far the code for the textbox is as follows:

{If {Dropdown1} = "A" "1"{If {Dropdown1} = "B" "2}}
