Scenario:

I have a bunch of word documents that had embedded excel worksheet objects linked. The excel files have been moved from one network drive to another.

I understand I have to relink them all, which is fine - the problem is, whenever I open one of these word documents, it takes 30-60 minutes to open because it's looking for files that don't exist...

I need something that will keep word from looking for these files that don't exist and keeping a 10 page word document from taking an hour to open before I can even relink.

I've searched and searched and can't find anything that will help. Already tried changing autocorrect and general options to not automatically update links on open, this doesn't seem to help.
