Linking a custom field value to Content Control

Hi,

I am attempting to create a word template file in MS Word 2007

I want to have a content control on the front cover of the document which is the report number

I then want to create a field who's value returns the value of the report number content control

and i then want to insert this field in the footer throughout the document so that the report number is in the footer


Sorry, its a bit of a "I want, I wan't post" and I want doesn't get; but i haven't a clue where to start on this one

Simple:
Apply a unique style name to the content control's range, which you also bookmark.

For the header/footer, simply insert a StyleRef field pointing to your content control range's style name.
For anywhere else, insert a cross-reference to the bookmark. To get the cross-reference to update you may need to do a print preview (or Ctrl-A, F9).
