Error message "The PivotTable field is not valid"

I get the error message "The PivotTable field name is not valid. To create a PivotTable report, you must use data that is organized as a list with labeled columns. If you are changing the name of a pivot Table field, you must type a new name for the field." when I try to make a pivot-table.

Any idea what I can do?

Regards,
Magne

Does your data compile with the information given in the error message?

Can you post a small example of the data set?

You must have a Header for each column in the range... ie row 1 of the range can not contain any blanks.

Thank you for your responses. I really appreciate it.

This was caused by a blank line and is solved now.

"The PivotTable field is not valid" error message.

I actually have the same problem but I checked whether any blanks are included in selection or not and I found it without any blanks included. Can any one help me to find out a solution for this problem.
Thanks in advance.

Forum Rules
Please read and adhere to these simple rules!

1. Use concise, accurate thread titles. Your post title should describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change the title of the thread, click EDIT on the original post, then click the Go Advanced button, then change the title. If two or more days have passed, the EDIT button will not appear, and you need to ask a moderator to change the title.

2. Don't post a question in the thread of another member -- start your own. If you feel it's particularly relevant, provide a link to the other thread.

you can also get an error like that if you download a file from here and try and creatye a PT without saving the file 1st.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
