Help can excel do this? change the values in a table using a function??????

Hi Im a bit of an excel newbie and im trying to do something that i cannot find a solution for that is probably quite simple for you guys on here.
I have a table it only has 2 columns, the first colum contains locations(20 in total) and each location has a numerical value in column 2.
In my excel sheet I am using vlookup to access the table containing numbers for each location. eg, Liverpool returns 1100now depending on the result of some calculations I may need to alter the number for this location; This is my problem how do I change or Rewrite the data in the table cell that corresponds to this location???

Thanks in Advance for any responses.

without seeing a sample of you're data, i would suggest using a helper column.

if that doesnt work for you, you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook. The workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
