how to sort by number when a cells have multiple number entries, and include the referenced information in the other columns;
eg
1,
1,1000,2000,

to become

1000
1000
2000

Here is how I did it. I highlighted column A. On the data tab, I selected Text to columns. For the destination I set it to J1. I then deleted all columns to the right of column J. I then went to the Data tab again and selected sort. I highlighted the range A1:J last row. and sorted on column J smallest to largest. The result is attached.

thank you; thats a very good start. though not all numbers are included so ; row 3 is 1.1,1.19,6.29,8,10,20,40,72,73,95,125,146,148,248,250,333,440,444,465,522,523,555,600,625,650,768,786,800,802,880,1500,1550,1600,1865,3000,5000,10000,
but i want these to be one a line with the corresponding info included with them.
so
1.1
1.19
6.29
8
10
etc
First and foremost, use cells to contain ONCE piece of info, dont put multiple bits of data into the same cell - and if you are dealing with text, keep it text, and if you are working with values/numbers, keep the cell as that. That way, you can do all sorts of analysis using built-in functions
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

ok. so now I am getting closer; thank you.
I did first what alansidman said. I sorted on row j. then on row k, then row l. put then that of row k under row j and then row l under row j. then sort the 3 again of row j.
But that makes another 16 rows to do.
see attached.
is there an easier way.
