    Access database with multiple users?

    Hi All
Hopefully I'll get an answer here... :-)
I had an app build in excel to raise new reports and respond to them.... at some point as it happened it was used by 2 different users at the same time and in a result data had mixed up resulting in a report made up from 2 different types of data. I wanted to avoid this and decided to move away from excel as it wasn't reliable and started building the new app in access.
In my form when new record is stared access assigns the ID Key what will happen if 2 users open the form at the same time would they both have the same ID key? Just want to make sure that there won't be data override before I spend a lot of time developing this app.

    Thanks for your help
    Dan

With Access, if two people open the data base, you do not have the issues that you have in Excel. You can have multiple people in a database in Access. If each tries to open a new record, each would have a different unique record ID. Further it is advised by the Access MVPs to split your data base into a front end and back end when it is expected to be shared.

Look at this link to learn more about splitting your db.
