Using Excel as a display for MYSQL data , and saving queries

    hi

    First time questioner here.

I am using a MYSQL datasource hosted on a webserver , accessed via ODBC to return Data for our Customer Order system.

I can create dataviews , which satisfy what conditions are wanted by my users , and now I want to export that out to excel.
I can use the MYSQL excel export tool , but some users just want to open a excel spreadsheet and have the data populate , and then feed into there lookups and pivot tables.

If I create an excel spreadsheet , will it retain the query and run on opening* , or is there another step I must invoke before data is returned?

*I dont want to have to relink a spreadsheet each time to a query.

    Many thanks

    James

    Not exactly.
I am not using msquery as my data comes fully from a db view.

I am concerned that I will have to re link the query to the spread sheet each time and rebuild the pivot tables created when data is imported.

I understand about filtering once imported etc .

    Thanks
