Adding date and time

Hi guys

I have made a simple database which allows people at work to fill in text box with a part number and it retrieves all information about that part from a table. This all works fine but what I also would like to do is record the number the person is inputting(searching for ) with a date and time in a separate table so I can look at that data .Would it be better using a macro or code? I am still new to this so any help is much appreciated
