    Relationship with keywords

    Hi,
I have a table with a column of keywords.
I have a second table that has a column with cells which contains some of the keywords.

I would like to be able to create a relationship where each keyword in the first table is associated to the cells that contain the keyword in the second table.

    Hi ej463,

Are you referring to Access 2003?

If so, then click on "Tools > Relationships", and add the tables you want to work with (if they aren't there already). Then drag your keyword field from one table to the next.

    Cheers,

    Re: Relationship with keywords

wow is it really that simple?

For instance if I have a keyword as lets say "house" in one of the cells in the first table. In the second table I have a cells that might be "redhouse" and "bluehouse121".

The cell "house" will be linked to "redhouse" and "bluehouse121"? I dont have Access with me right now, but I will check right when I get to a computer that does!

    Thanks so much

    Re: Relationship with keywords

Uh, sorry, no, not like that.

The keywords must be the same, i.e., "house" in the first table will only match to "house" in the second table. You didn't mention that the keywords were part of another word in the same cell.

Is there any way to link a cell with a word to a cell that has a word which contains it?

    Re: Relationship with keywords

Well, you could build queries to search your table for those keywords, but you'd have to define the search string for each query to include the keyword.

I have a question for you. Your table of values, is it possible that any given cell would have 2 or more key words within it?

So if House was a keyword, and Brick was also another key word.

Would there be a value in your other table that is say.. BrickHouse121??

Could a situation like this exist or will you only ever have one keyword per record?
