Truncate field based on special character (*)

Does anyone know how to produce a query which will truncate a particular field based on a character?

IE - the original field may contain "Access*Excel" and I want the new field to contain just "Access"

Another record may contain "Acc*essExcel" and I want it to reflect "Acc"

Thanks in advance for any input!

I am not sure why all of the posts are deleted, however here is what I would do.

Replace "Truncate" with whatever you want the field to be called. I used a "-" instead of an "*". replace it with whatever you want.

    Hope this helps,
