    Database Help

    Hello there

This is my first post on the website and I am looking for some help, I am a serious Racing analysist whose in the middle of building his own website and was looking for a little bit of advice on inputting a database on there so that users can use filter tabs under certian headings to browse my data.

I have 4325 winners from 2008-2009 put into a Excel spreedsheet with 7 headings; Month, Figure, Horse, Course, Distance, Ground, Year. I want people to be able to use these headings in browsing and searching the database for the information required.

I am currently on Joomla but find any Excel tools they have very basic and tend to clash with the templates, I also have limited expierance in this field which is why I am here asking you today so go easy

    Thank You

If this is the case, I would recommend you either learn mysql and php or you hire it done. Not that it can't be done with access, I just don't even know where to have you start.

Here are some follow up questions for you:
Do you have a Static IP?
    Do you have a Server?
Does you webhosting come with a free mysql database?

    Re: Database Help

    I would recommend PHP/MySQL:

    PHP
    http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/DEfaULT.asP

    MySQL w/ PHP
    http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_ref_mysql.asp

Look this over and let me know what you think, I would also be very interested in hearing what others on this site have to say.

    Another question for you:
How many people do you figure will be accessing this at any given time?

    Dan

P.S. I usually only check the boards Monday-Friday
