Access 2007 Forms Update and Add Cross Referenced Field

I have a form that updates a table. When I add a record to the table I would like the ID associated with the Name (referenced from another table) to be added along with the new information. Right now I am experiencing an error for new records whose ID does not already exist in table when I am adding a record since the ID is not being brought with it (and ID record must exists as defined by relationships).

Can someone point me in the right direction. Do you understand the problem?

How are you adding the name? Free form or using a combo box? Actually, in a normalized db, you should only be bringing in the Name ID and not the name. if you need the name for a report or presentation, it can be joined in a query.

This white paper might be helpful to show you what I mean.

Perhaps you should upload a copy of your db for analyzation. I cannot understand your issue from your explanation. Go Advanced Button and follow the wizard.

I cannot follow what you are asking. Suggest you make a copy of your database, sanitize it for confidential data and upload with only a sampling of the data that is representative of your issues. Make sure that if you do this, you run a compact and repair prior to uploading. Without seeing your issues, I am afraid it is like tossing darts blindfolded after being spun around in circles.
