    Re-Created Form

    Hello,
I posted before and it was suggested that I create a new form in my Access DB. I have done that twice now and am running into a strange issue. For some reason when I enter data and go to the next record, the old data is there and it won't save. Everytime I change a records information it updates that to each record in the form. I finally fixed the form to display the correct totals now this is the only issue I cannot seem to resolve. Please help. Thank you in advance.

    Ruth

I have attached the DB to provide a clearer understanding of my dilemna.

Which form is the problem appearing on?

Have you linked the form and subform?

Actually, why do you have a subform?

    Ruth,
Your form is set to data entry in the data tab in the properties section of the form. This will only allow you to enter data to the table. It does not allow you to see the data once it has been entered on that form. Is that your intention?

    Re: Re-Created Form

I actually wanted to have tabs for those two areas and getting them to total and show would not work the first time I created this. I used the form wizard to create the subform in hopes that it woud take care of linking automatically.

    Re: Re-Created Form

I changed the data tab to data entry thinking that could be the reason the information is not being saved. Obviously not. I do need to see the data after it is entered to verify the information entered is correct.

    Re: Re-Created Form

The problem is on the form itself. I was finally able to get the subform to work correctly, now there is an issue with the form (Mainform) saving and showing the desired information.

First add the InvoiceNumber to the data source of the subform, and save that form.

Then open the Maininvoices form in design view and select the subform - you can do that by selecting Invoices subform from the dropdown at the top of the property sheet.

Now goto the Data tab of the property sheet and click either Link Master Fields or Link Child fields.

A dialog should open with InvoiceNumber preselected for the first row of MasterFields and ChildFields.

If it's not then select it for both.

    Finally hit OK.

    That should link the forms.

Oh, and change the default views of both forms to Single Form and change Data Entry to No.

    Re: Re-Created Form

Thank you. That did link the forms however, when I try to enter the information I get the error of "The changes made wil create duplicates in the index, primary keys or relationships" and I need to make the changes in the original table. I checked and the only field not indexed for duplicates is the Invoice Number, all others are. Thank you.

    Re: Re-Created Form

This would be far easier with one form, I honestly don't see why you need the subform.

If you wanted tabs for Material and Printing then use a Multipage.

    No problem.

PS You might also want to look at simply drawing boxes for the Printing/Material sections.
