    fixing x-axis for column chart

    All,

I have 2 chart types in one chart: column and line. i have formatted to position x-axis "On tick marks". It works well with the line graph but for the column graph i don't have the result that I am looking for. I have attached my data here. i want the column to start in the x-axis marks, for this particular case, to start at 0, 3, 5, etc. and not these points to be the center. I hope someone can help me figure this out

    Thanks!

It's not clear exactly what appearance you are after.

You can try adding a secondary horizontal axis and setting that to be on tick marks. This will position the line on the points rather than between. But the line will then not probably align with the columns and this is the bit I'm unsure of what you are expecting the chart to look like.

Re: fixing x-axis for column chart

    Hi,

I have attached a file on how i foresee my target. I edited this in paint but it would be nice if I could get this done in Excel.

The column chart has the x-axis ticks in the center but i was looking to see if I could make it start at the beginning of the x-axis point.

    Hope this clears the issue.

    Thanks!

Try it as a line bar combination.

Start by creating the line chart. No sure if you need that part beyond 199, if you do extend the range selected by 1.
Then add the different Shade data points and change to stacked bar.

It worked. Thanks a lot. I tweaked some values so that the points line up and used scatter chart instead of line. It's been a big help. I appreciate it!
