    PowerPivot refuses to import text

I have a CSV file for a dimension that Im trying to import. Many of the columns contain both numeric and text values.

For some reason when I try to import it to PowerPivot, those columns are always set to numeric columns, and the text values are omitted. I try to update the columns to text data type and refresh the values, but the cells that should contain text stay empty.

Any ideas on what Im doing wrong?

PP doesn't like mixed data types so you'll need a schema.ini file - this blog post has an overview: http://brentpearce.wordpress.com/201...s-the-sql-way/
