Create a Pie Chart

I need to create a pie chart and I am having trouble, I have created numerous pie charts in the past but this time I am struggling. I do not necessairly want to post my data on the web, but I think there is where I am running into problems.

I want to create a pie chart for created by AND Task ID and Name. The information that I have for created by is all the same, only one person and the Task ID and Name data changes every couple of rows, so for example:

Task ID and Name Created By
3.2.04 Initialize Underwriter's Excel Workbook Palmer, Paul
3.2.04 Initialize Underwriter's Excel Workbook Palmer, Paul
3.2.04 Initialize Underwriter's Excel Workbook Palmer, Paul
3.2.06 Validate/Collect Supporting Documentation Palmer, Paul
3.2.06 Validate/Collect Supporting Documentation Palmer, Paul
3.2.07 Collect CAT Modeling Information Palmer, Paul

and so on..

When I create my chart it looks like this:

how can i create a pie chart for this data?

1) You don't actually have a numerical value to chart. I assume it's implicitly the count of those different tasks or something?

2) Pie charts are "one-dimensional"; ie, since they're representing a value as a fraction of a total, they can only be used on one row of numbers.



Advice:
1) Use text-to-columns to split your data into a table with different pieces of data in different columns, if they're not already separated that way. EG, the "task" and the "person" should be in different cells.

2) a Pivot Chart is probably the way to go, since you probably need an intermediary chart-feeding table.
