    Scatter plot with two X axis data

    I am trying to plot 2 X-axis data with one Y axis. The Y-axis is just a dummy axis.

    X1= 1 2 3 4 5
    X2= 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4
    Y = 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0


    I can get X1 to display properly on the axis. But I don't see the repeated X2 values on the graph.

    First check are they overlaped.
    Then add one XY graph.
    After this right click on graph -> Change source (or something like that) and then add 2nd XY graph.

    You mean "select source". I tried that.
    The X1 is screwed up in my post, please see attached.

    Series 1 which refers to X2: The X values include everything between column B and column U.
    Skup 2 which refers to X1: The X values only include columns B through H.

    Is this supposed to be correct, or do you need Skup2 to refer to the same columns as Series1?

    Both X1 and X2 are from columns B through H.
    But there are few empty cells in series X2.

    This is not what I see in the sample file you attached to post 3. As I noted, Series1 and skup2 refer to different columns. Is this the problem then, or is there more to it?

    X1 starts from column B and ends at R. For the same of completion, we can say it starts from B and ends at U. I am not sure why you are only seeing up to H.
    X1 has one digit starting at B and then 4 empty cells and one digit followed by 4 empty cells.....so on until column U and empty cells till H.

    Obivously, I cannot know, either, why your posted sample file does not agree with your description of the file. You might download/open your file directly from post #3 and make sure it uploaded correctly.

    As I thought about it, perhaps your question is about why skup2 does not show up at all on a "line without markers" plot. I notice that your "hidden and empty cell" setting is set to leave "gaps" in the plotted line where there are "gaps" in the data. Since skup2 is mostly "gaps", there is nothing to plot here. Perhaps what you are looking for is someone to point you to the "hidden and empty" cell setting where you can set it to "interpolate" or "connect" across gaps. If you are using 2003 as your profile indicates, this setting is in the Tool -> Options -> chart tab dialog. If you are using 2007+, this dialog is accessed from the "Select Source Data" dialog.

    Well, Please have a look at the attached sheet.
    In this I just have X and Y.
    Y value is just 0 and X keeps repeating from 1 through 4.

    When I plot, I don't see the 1,2,3,4 repeating values on X axis.

    On a scatter plot, I would not expect the data points to repeat. Perhaps you want this to be a line chart (category axis)?

    That does help. But when I try to add another X axis data, I have to make it secondary axis.
    Do you know how to bring secondary axis closer to the primary axis (put them next to each other)?

    You should be able to position the secondary x axis anywhere you want by changing the "horizontal x axis crosses at..." property of the secondary vertical axis.

    Reading between the lines here, I wonder if you are looking for a "multi-level" category x axis. See if the example I posted in #5 of this thread is helpful: http://www.excelforum.com/excel-char...-industry.html
