Using VLookUp Function with Pivot Table Data

I have a row of numbers (unique identifiers) in a pivot table and would like to use that data to pull values from another sheet using the VLookUp function. However, I keep getting #REF! using this function =VLOOKUP(A5,Sheet2!A2:A589,2,FALSE). I've read that the 'numbers' in the pivot table may be text so I tried the following and got the same #REF! error =VLOOKUP(VALUE(A5),Sheet2!A2:A589,2,FALSE). Any ideas? Thank you very much.

you could work with a formula to get data out of a pivot table.

personaly I prefer the formula in the data, so it is available to use IN the pivot table.
Notice my main language is not English.

oeldere - thanks for the quick response. Now time for a dumb question - how do I put a formula in the data in a pivot table? Sorry if this is too simple of a question...

You get better help on your question if you add a small excel file, without confidential information.

Please also add manualy the expected result in your file.
