I can't get to create a scatter graph from a data set. The data is below. Please help!

It really isn't much to go on. Why are you having trouble creating a scatter chart? Can we assume you are starting by following basic chart creation steps like this? http://www.excel-easy.com/examples/scatter-chart.html

Thank you for your reply. Yes I do follow that but my graph doesnt look alright. I want to put years in the x Axis and numbers along side years in Y axis. Each year represent a different number which is beside it. If you can somehow please create a scatter graph from this data and email it to me to [email protected] it would be great. Thanks a lot

Unfortunately, you drew a forum member who does not simply "create a scatter graph an email it". If one of the other forum members wants to do that for you, that is their prerogative.

If your data is arranged in two columns like you show in your post, and you follow the standard directions for inserting a scatter chart (Insert Tab -> Scatter chart -> any of the scatter chart sub-types), Excel should do this automatically. What is Excel doing wrong? My first guess is that, whatever Excel is "guessing" wrong about how you want the data charted, it should be fixed by going into the "Select Data" dialog: https://support.office.com/en-za/art...angesourcedata You may also need to check your existing data for "numbers stored as text" (one of the built in error checking options if you have Excel's error checking turned on).

but i did try all that the plots look like box plots on each year not a graph like where dots are scattered everywhere in the graph

That certainly does not sound like you are inserting a scatter chart. That sounds more like a column chart or a stacked column chart or some other chart type. Double and triple check the selections you are making on the Insert tab to make sure you are inserting a scatter chart. Also, check to make sure there are no macros or other code that would cause it to insert something other than a scatter chart.

I also recall that Excel will not create a scatter chart as a pivot chart. If these data are the result of a pivot table operation, it is possible that Excel is seeing your attempt to create a scatter chart based on pivot data and "vetoing" your choice.
