My boss needs box plots to show the distribution and the frequency of the highs (time of admission). She uses SPSS but I wonder if I can get the same results in Excel.

It's not clear to me exactly what quantities you want to show in the box plot, but box plots are fairly easy in Excel. I will refer to this tutorial rather than write my own: http://peltiertech.com/excel-box-and...ams-box-plots/

Yeah, a few steps, because you've only got raw, and excel doesn't have box-and-whisker built in.
1) Extract the statistical info from the data table using functions (I also used some arrayed formulas to grab it on a month filter)
2) Drive from the info table to a chartbuilding table
3) Stacked column chart with custom value error bars
