    Help with Pivot Table.

    Hi Guys,

I'm new to pivot tables and looking for a little help or a point in the right direction.

I have a couple of columns with mixed data. for example:

    Name Date Transaction Pol Type
    John 01/05/15 NB PC
    Bob 01/05/15 NB IBC
    Sam 01/05/15 NB IC
    Richard 01/05/15 NB IB
    John 01/05/15 NB CV
    John 01/05/15 NB CV

But I would like to create the pivot table to calculate certain criteria to one column, for example: anything with IBC, IC, IB add together so equalling 3

    NB
    Date Transaction Total Units
    01/05/15 HH 3
    01/05/15 PC 1
    01/05/15 CV 1

    Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks!

    Re: Help with Pivot Table.

Select the data table then click on Insert, Pivot Table. Click OK and the pivot table template will appear on a new worksheet. In the field list at right of scree, drag the fields and drop them into the boxes below.

Date and Pol Type go in the "Row Labels" box, Transaction goes in the "Column Labels" box and Pol Type also goes in the "Values" box.

    Good luck with it.

If you attach a sample of your workbook it will be easier to find a solution. Remember to remove/replace sensitive data before uploading the file. Look here if you need help with attachments:
