    References In Object Formulas Must Be External References To Worksheets Error

    I create Text Box on the thermometer chart (on the right) then click fx part (below the ribbon) and write "=B21" and click enter and I get this error;

    When I open your workbook, I see the formula as =Sheet1!$B$21, which works fine.

    The left chart belongs to the book. (I assume that you checked left chart.)

    Try creating text box and writing =B21 on the right chart.

    I don't see a text box in the chart on the right, but when I add one, I have no problem entering the formula =B21

    If I reference "=B21" it won't work and I get the error.

    If I reference "=Sheet1!$B$21" it work.

    Isn't it interesting?

    I don't have to use "Sheet1!" reference because the precedent cell is already on the active sheet (Sheet1). Do I?
