Group data in pivot table by date

    Group data in pivot table by date

    Please take a look at the attached file.

    I would like to group the data in the pivot table by the Date filed.

    However, note the pivot table grouping option is grayed out. I understand this could happen because the data is not all numeric, but I have checked the data both by sorting it and using ISNUMBER and it looks good.

    I am using Excel 2010.

    Help!

    I meant to say "Date field" not Date filed.

    It allows me to group the data. Make sure you have selected a cell within column A (not the header) of your pivot table and the group options should be available.

    Thank you. That did the job.

    Lesson learned: you must select a numeric cell on the data to be grouped.
