Automatically adjust Bar Graph when Pivot Table changes

    Here's something new from me.

I have a Pivot Table, which wide-opened has 123 lines. I would like to create a Gantt style chart that will adjust it's size pending on my filters. ie:
Wide open it would have 123 lines of employee names and when they started wok. (A pretty busy/messy chart, but can be necessary).

If I use my filter and only ask for 'Salespeople' the list is reduced to 50+. This results in my Gantt chart being over half empty and crushes all the data on the bottom.

    Can anyone offer any advice?Full_Chart.pngFiltered_Chart.png

    PivotChart should reduce automatically.

No the Pivot table changes no problem, the chart on the other hand looks terrible that's what needs to get fixed. Any ideas

PivotChart. Insert it same way as Pivot table.

    Insert -> Pivot -> PivotChart

O.K. New at this PivotTable/PivotChart thing. Do I make the PivotChart from the PivotTable? or do I create it from the original Data table??

    Thanks

Insert it same way as Pivot table from the original data.
Just use PivotChart and not PivotTable.

You'll get same case as with PivotTable (rest is same) only you have additional chart in the sheet.

O.K. I made it from my existing PivotTable, but all the data is crushed along the Horizontal Axis (See below)

What I'm trying to get is the Position # (not visible on Screen print, but it's there) and name (white-out for protection) along the Vertical Axis, dates along the Horizontal Axis and the Stacked Bar Chart running Horizontally across, which will indicate the day they started and their end date.

By the way, this is not a Pivot Table to Sum any data, it justs Pivots the Columns for the Start Date, End Date and Day Count.

Re: Automatically adjust Bar Graph when Pivot Table changes

O.K. Thanks everyone, I finally got the Dynamic Ranges working and it's almost all GOOD, except two last problems:

    1) My Vertical Category Axis is feed with two Columns: Column 'A' giving the Position number and Column 'B' giving the name of the individual in the position. On the Chart the Position number is entered vertically while the Name is reported Horizontally. How Can I get both Horizontal? I can't stretch the Vertical Category Axis box and I can't find if/where I can change the Box size.

    2) How do I set the height of the chart to adjust with the data so if it's only providing information on five positions as per the picture or 123 positions the graph is legible
