Display Chart up to current values

    Hi All,

If you take a look at the attached excel file, it's a represntation of something I'd like to do with an actual chart. So I have a workbook in which I want the chart to update as values get populated in future cells (currently blank). But the data right now shows the blank cells in the chart. Another option would be having the chart referencing a cell and going up only to that Week number.

I'd appreciate all thoughts on this.

    Thanks!

Convert your data range into an Excel Table and resize the chart source data.
To convert the data into a Table, select the range C1:M2 and press Ctrl+T, make sure that the My table has headers box is checked and click OK.

This way the source data for the chart would be dynamic and once you add data in col. N, the table range gets updated and so the chart.

Aside from putting it into a table, is there any other way? Possibly using the offset function?

The real file needs to be presented in the way I had it in my original view and there are about 400 metric points that need to be touched on.

Apologies if I wasn't clear in my initial post.

Re: Display Chart up to current values

I have created two named ranges called Week and Value and changed the source data to refer to these named ranges.
Right click on the Plot area and choose Select Data and edit the source data for the Series1 and the horizontal axis.
For Series1, you will need to input the source for series values as ='Chart Example.xlsx'!Value and for horizontal axis as ='Chart Example.xlsx'!Week

    This is great!

Is there anyway for it to avoid " " values. In my actual dataset, I have formulas that has the data actualize as time progreses. So for instance, if it's March data from January to March will apeear; meanwhile, all other future months won't show values, but I have an IFERROR function in so " " values appear if data points from a specific month are availalbe. Even with the offset function my chart captures these values.

Re: Display Chart up to current values

Okay. To demonstrate how will it work, I have inserted a dummy formula in Row2 so that once you input a Y for a week in Row3, the corresponding cell in Row2 will show the value and the chart will be updated accordingly.
I have changed the formulas for the named ranges.
The same setup will work for your actual file.

It this what you were talking about?
