    Graph showing incremental target achievement

    Hi there,

I am trying to make a graph that can easily show annual targets, year to date targets and year to date achieved. I'm trying to create a template where we can on a monthly basis plop in the new data and have it automatically update. I'm imagining a relatively simple bar chart, but for some reason can't figure it out ! Maybe I'm having a brain lapse moment. I'm attaching a few images if the type of graph I'm imagining. Would appreciate your help!

    Many thanks!

Re: Graph showing incremental target achievement

To add to my question...I think my problem is that I am trying to use pieces of data that are subsets of the others. So for example, if my total target is 100 units, and the year to date target is 33 units, and the year to date achieved is 30 units; when I try to use a stacked graph the total units end up being 163 (100+33+32). However, what I want to show is is that 32 of the total target units have been achieved. Even when I try to do it as percentages, I have the same problem. I feel like there must be a simple solution but can't seem to figure it out.

    Thanks!
    Madeleine

Stacked bar and column graphs usually need columns of differences, so you need to add those columns to your spreadsheet. One column would be =33-32, another column would be =100-33 (or references to that effect).

My first thought for this chart is a simple, regular clustered bar chart -- 3 bars side by side, one for total target, one for YTD target, and one for YTD achieved. Why would that not work?
