[Solved]Need help in combining data from same heading in pivot table

    Hi.
Need help regarding pivot tables with different results under one heading.
As shown in the example, there are a number of different types of favourite foods. I am able to calculate the number of people for each type of food using pivot table. However, I would like to categorise them as fruits and vegetables instead of by its individual name. Is there a way in the pivot table to sort/combine this information or do I have to do it manually? I would prefer not to do it manually as the actual data is extremely long and complicated and would just like to combine the data into the sum of fruits and vegetables.

    Many thanks.

    Hi,

Yes, you can select the headers you want to group (e.g. F4, I4 and J4) then right-click and choose Group. You can then rename the group from Group1 by simply overtyping. Repeat as required for any other groupings.

However, it is easier and more maintainable to use a lookup table of groupings, in my opinion.
