Chaotic Time Axis in Pivot Chart

I have a pivot chart which shows a time series with data points at an hourly interval (see figure).

As can be seen in the figure, the horizontal axis is abhorrent. I've been struggling with this problems for days with no avail so I find myself compelled to ask for assistance.

Is there a way to make the time axis less chaotic, more organized? An ideal solution would omit both the time and date and just keep the months. It would also be OK if it contained dates, but with a larger intverval between labels.

Attach a sample workbook (not a picture). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

I do not work with pivot tables or pivot charts very much. The problem seems to be the way that Excel handles the multi-level category axis when most of the different category levels are in the same column. In a non-pivot table/chart, I would have expected the categories to be arranged:

Year -- Month -- Day -- Time -- Value
2017 -- January -- 1/1/2017 -- 1:00 -- 45
blank -- blank -- blank -- 13:00 -- 50
and so on

where there are four columns for each part of the date. I don't know how pivot table/charts are expected to handle the same kind of thing, so I cannot make suggestions in that regard, and, as Sandy noted, we cannot change the pivot table because the pivots source is blocked. If I were to move forward with this, the direction I would probably try is to see if I could coax the pivot table to list year, month, day, time as separate column rather than have month/day in the same column.
