Change chart data selection depending on date

Hi!

I have some fairly simple date: date (monthly) against one data series (amount). I want to make a simple line chart that displays the amount against the date (horizontal axis). However, I want to be able to change the start and end dates for what is displayed on the chart and can't figure how to do this. I have created two cells with drop-down menus to select the start and end date (i.e. if you change one of these, the chart changes to reflect this).

From doing some research, it seems that people are using the OFFSET function and data names. However, I'm very new to these two function in excel so a dummy's guide would be fantastic!

Yes, OFFSET is usually the key to dynamic charting. It depends on how you have the data organized. Sometimes a pivot table can do the work for you, or at least organize the data. What you have to do is define a named dynamic range and then use that range in the chart.
