    Refreshing PivotTable in protected sheet

I created a spreadsheet that has the first tab where we dump all of our line data from SAP and then 8 other tabs (one for each production line) that has a scrap and rework pivot table that pulls from the main data tab. I tried going through every tab and unlocking all of the cells and then only locking the ones I want and protecting the sheet but I get the error "That command cannot be performed while a protected sheet contains another PivotTable report based on the same source data. To remove protection from the sheet that has the other report, click the sheet tab, and then click Unprotect Sheet (Review tab, Changes group). Then try the command again." I even checked "Use PivotTable and PivotChart" when protecting the sheet but it still wont do it. Any ideas how to fix?

    Hi,

I think you have to unprotect the sheet when refreshing a pivot table.

There is no other way? I really only wanted to lock the filters for the PivotTable and some of the other cells. I didn't want to lock any of the PivotTables themselves or the data from which they pull.

No, not that I know of. You can create a macro to unprotect all the sheets, refresh the pivot tables and then reprotect the sheets.
