Grouping Dates in Pivot Table

Hi,

I have a strange problem where I can't group dates by months etc. in a pivot table. It says "Cannot group that selection".

However if I select just that same date column as the source for my pivot table, ie. no other columns. I can then group by months.

Any ideas?

EDIT - Additional info is that if I just use the one column and then group it by months (which works), I then change the source data to include the rest of my table data including other columns, the grouping is removed.

I deleted the Table and re-added it. I created the pivot from the new table and it now groups fine. Weird.
