    Manipulation of Chart data

    Hi All

    In the attached sample file...
Is there a way for me to manipulate the Source data to have Quarter 2 show current score and Quarter 2 show Previous quarters Regional ranking and previous Quarters Overall ranking

    So quarter 2 show 46 23 8

So I need the Chart to show Current score and previous Rankings in same Quarter!!!
    Attached Files Attached Files
    Good Luck
I don't presume to know what I am doing, however, just like you, I too started somewhere...

    Re: Manipulation of Chart data

If I understand what you are trying to do, I see two approaches:

    1) Instead of putting the 8 and 23 into row 2, put them in row 3. Since I am not sure how you are building this table, I cannot recommend how to do that. With the sample file, I selected D2:E3 -> Ctrl-C -> Select D3 -> Paste -> Select D2:E2 -> Clear. Note that I avoided Cut and paste (Move) because Excel may have chosen to adjust the chart references for those two series accordingly which would not have been the desired outcome. Though, I could have then just selected the chart and edited the chart ranges to resotre the original. One way or another, move the data down so that the desired values appear in the same row as the desired quarter.

    2) Shift the references in the chart up a row for those two data series, so that the "current score" series is still C2:C5, but the other two series are D1:D4 and E1:E4. Note that Excel is going to treat the text in row 1 as the value 0, so this will create undesired data points in the chart. It might be useful to insert a blank row between the text in row 1 and the current row 2 so that Excel will ignore these points. This row can be hidden, if desired. I find that I don't like to use offset chart ranges like this, because they tend to confuse me when I return the spreadsheet ("Why did I do that?").

Will either of those work for you?

    Re: Manipulation of Chart data

    Oh my gosh MrShorty...of course

As per your suggestion, my code needs to populate the offset rows below, copy offset rows before into desired layout and then populate chart with Range...

    You are a star...
