Re: Combine Production process in one

Which of the two sample files should we use? Please delete the one that is not needed.

How does sugar become tea? What is the logic here?

Re: Combine Production process in one

Hello.. Please note this is just hypothetical example... Both files are correct you can refer "Production Steps - Copy.xlsx‎".. I have many products in this format and I just want a combine result as shown under the head "Result Required" from Process 1 and Process 2

Yes, but how in your hypothetical world does sugar become tea? In other words, how is Excel to know that these items need combining under the heading of "tea"? Without knowing your thought process here, it's hard to advise. I will remove the unnecessary attachment for clarity and to avoid confusion, as you have not yet done so as requested.

I'm sorry - I don't fully understand the logic. I will leave this for someone else who does. Sorry!

Use Logic of A and B Column if Value is Same to Column A

    Dear All,
    I am new to Pivot...

What I require is If there is A in "Column A" and result for the same is "X, Y, Z" in "Column B"...

Further If it found that in Column B contains Value A then I required result in "Column C" is "X, Y, Z"..

I have attached excel file for further clarity...

    I'm not sure I understand.

Can you mock up the expected result next to your data table. Show me what the new data should look like.

I'm not sure that you need a pivot table here. You could do the logic within your source data by having a calculated column.

Sorry I was on the wrong track and now understand what you need. I don't know how to get that result (easily).

As this is essentially the same query, I have merged the two threads. Please don't start more than one thread on the same issue.

Re: Combine Production process in one (Two Threads Merged)

I still don't get the logic. Explain this:

    Require 3 Raws (sic) and Result X, Y, Z instead of A
Why? And how would Excel know this?

Re: Combine Production process in one (Two Threads Merged)

May be with pivot or Macro... Actually Product A is used in preparation of Product B but I want Basic Ingredients of A to analyze.. There is systematic data in Sheet "Data" in pivot file..

Re: Combine Production process in one (Two Threads Merged)

OK - I give up. You have not answered my very simple question. Maybe you don't understand the logic yourself? If not, then you are not going to be able to get Excel to deal with it because in whatever solution you employ you need to factor the logic in. Excel is not able to work it out for itself.

Good luck - I hope that someone can work it out for you.

Re: Combine Production process in one (Two Threads Merged)

Please note How Excel Will know is already there in Pivot file in Pivot Sheet... In Cell A4 there is Product A and Result for the same in Column B B4:B6... What I want is in Cell B7 there is again product A for which I required result in Col C C7:C9..

What logic I am applying is if Excel showing the result for Cell A4 through Pivot then excel again use the same logic for B7
