    Map Chart Legend Customization

    Hi,

I am making a dashboard comparing multiple years of sales shown as maps using the map charts. I have the maps as I want them only the legend shows the data range between the lowest and the highest found data for that year. for example I have 2017 data that has sales numbers between £500.- and £25000.- but in 2018 the sales numbers where much higher e.i. between £30000.- and £350000.-. now as I have 2 maps (2017 and 2018) next to each other it gets confusing. On an area where in 2017 there was £25000.- sales but in 2018 there was £350000.- of sales it looks like the sales was the same as it is both the highest sales in the table and therefor the same colour in both maps.

How can I change the legend data to show values between £0.- and £350000.- for both maps so that the £25000.- in 2017 is a much lighter colour then the £350000.- in 2018?

    Thanks!

Select map and right click Format Data Series.
With chart options there is a Series Color option which allows you define Min/Max number and colours.

    Re: Map Chart Legend Customization

Hi, Thank you! this is what I was looking for!

only thing is that it created another problem. I now have a range beteen 0 and 400000 on the maps that show a year of data witch now looks great comparing to other years. only thing is that I have put in slicers to look at the data year on year for a specific month.
once I select 1 month the range of 0-400000 doesn't make sence at all anymore.

Is there a dynamic way to select the range to show the lowest data in any year and the highes data in any year?

    Example:
    2017 Total ranges from 0-25000
    2018 Total ranges from 500-130000
    2019 Total ranges from 2500-160000

for all maps I want a range from 0-160000 for the whole year, this I now can, but if it is just january data I want the legend to change with the lowest and highes data in those 3 years.

is there some way this is possible?

You can not link the values to cells so the only other possibility is VBA to change the chart setting each time the PT recalculates. Or have multiple charts with the values fixed and just change the z-order depending on PT choices.
