Having trouble plotting negative times on the graphs

    Hello

I was trying to plot a chart with negative time value in minutes.

The Y-axis is for the time in mins and it doesnot display the negative values.

Attached the spreadsheet with the content.

Any advice to resolve this will be very much helpfull.

Re: Having trouble plotting negative times on the graphs

It has been a while since I have encountered this, but it seems that when Excel "upgraded" from 2003 to 2007, they lost the ability to display negative times on charts.

Are you required to store the elapsed times in E as date/time serial numbers? One solution might be to convert the result of the calculation from days to minutes (=CONVERT(current formula,"day","mn") formatted as general or "0" https://support.office.com/en-us/art...d-666c810f9af2 ), and then you won't use the elapsed minutes time format.

Are you required to use Excel? I tried creating the chart with your data in LO calc, and LO Calc had not difficulty with the negative times.

In my limited experience, Excel just does not play nice with negative times. You've either got to break out of Excel's date/time system, or break out of Excel all together.

Re: Having trouble plotting negative times on the graphs

thank you for your time ... i converted the difference values into the general format and that resolved the issues.

instead of doing '=C6-D6' in the [mm] custom format; i converted it in to general format and used '=(HOUR(C6)*60+MINUTE(C6))-(HOUR(D6)*60+MINUTE(D6))'
