file attachment does work but you have to read the yellow banner first

What goes wrong?

What do you mean by " file attachment box" ? the paperclip icon?

When posting in Quick Reply (below another user's post), click on Go Advanced:

Then scroll down to Manage Attachments:

Then click Browse, locate your file and select it, click Upload, note the file will appear below, then click Close this window.

Your file will show as attached after you post.
