    Even dates across a chart

    Hi All

I have a list of various bank balances at various dates:

    EG

    15 April 2019 - £500
    17 April 2019 - £600
    18 April 2019 - £700
    22 April 2019 - £500
    23 April 2019 - £800
    24 April 2019 - £300
    27 April 2019 - £600
    29 April 2019 - £600

I can make a chart from that data and it shows the bank balances on each day where there is an entry but on days where there is no data it doesn't show and the balance line is misleading.

I can write a formula to apply that data to a list of dates and deduce the data for the in between dates but as this covers 12 years worth of days then it's quite data intensive.

Is there a way to force the chart to show all dates and not just the ones with data?

    Thanks in anticipation....

Re: Even dates across a chart

What chart type are you using -- line or scatter? If you are using a line chart, is it using a date axis or a category/text axis?

Reading between the lines, I get the impression that you are using a line chart with a category/text axis, and that you want Excel to use a date axis for this. As long as your dates are real dates and not dates stored as text, then it seems like you should be able to tell Excel to use a date axis in the chart and that should show what you want.

Can you upload a sample file showing what you have and help us understand what you want?

Thanks for your input - on closer examination, it seems correct that despite the dates being unevenly spaced, a line chart does evenly space them. Many thanks.
