Displaying non-numeric values in a Pivot Table

Sorry, but this is a really basic question.

I have two tables

Table 1
ID Item
A 1
A 2
B 1
B 3
C 2


Table 2
Item Flag
1 Y
2 N
3 N

The two tables have a relationship through Item (using Power Pivot)

If I create a Pivot table that has a Row for Item how can I display the Value of Flag that relates to that Item? The aggregations of Sum and Count etc only work on numbers

If I include Flag as a Row, then it shows all possible values (i.e Y & N). i.e. I get these outcomes

So, I guess the question is how, if you can, would you display non-numeric values in a Pivot Table?
