How to make bar chart lines thicker?

I have a bar chart which shows data for 2 columns against a time period. However the bar chart lines are very thin. I've read that changing the acis to text makes the lines thicker which it does however the dates on the axis turn into numbers.

With the excel spreadsheet attached, how do i turn Chart 1 (using the data in the sheet) into the Chart 2 (the image underneath)?


I've spent hours trying to figure this out with no success hopefully someone here knows??

wtf i changed that option from date to text and it messed up for me. Thank you for assisting!!
