    Partial column without numbers

    Hello all,

I have a problem and would appreciate some help. Hope this is the right subforum and the question does not belong in "Excel Formulas and Functions". Please move it if needed.

The following situation: in file 1 there is a query (Analysis for Office). In file 2 there are several spreadsheets, of which 1 spreadsheet (XYZ) is linked to all cells of the query from file 1. The other spreadsheets in file 2 also partially access numbers from spreadsheet XYZ using formulas. When working with file 2 (e.g. show and hide and many more, possibly also in spreadsheet XYZ) it happened that a whole column of spreadshteet XYZ showed only zeros. Unfortunately, I didn't approach this systematically, so I can't determine which step caused the later reappearance of the numbers. Do you have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!
    Dirk

    Administrative Note:

    Welcome to the forum.

Is your forum profile showing the version of Excel that you need this to work for? NOT Windows!

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the version of Office (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your version is for Mac, please also state this.

The three most recent versions of Excel are Excel 2019, Excel 2021 and MS365 - if you are using MS365, please give this name along with the release number in your profile (e.g. MS365 Version 2211). This is in the About Excel section further down the Account page.

    Thanks.
    Ali

    Hi Dirk,

I've seen "showed only zeros" when you try to add TEXT instead of numbers. Text is treated as a value of zero. If you give us a formula in the cells that are supposed to be numbers, we might be of more help.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

    Hi,

    the profile is updated.

No text should appear in the cells, it's about numbers. They appear now also again, only I do not know why they were not shown in the meantime and there were only zeros to see.

The formula used is of the type: ='[abc.xlsx]query'!w13 Maybe it was because it is a query ( Analysis for Office) and there is something to consider?

    Hi Dirk,

I don't understand your question but could you be displaying zeros as blanks? see:

    Re: Partial column without numbers

    Hi Marvin,

I saw zeros instead of "natural numbers. There are figures in the query, for example 10.000, 5.555 and so on. File 2 ist linked to these figures and they were shown in the spreadsheet in file 2. Suddenly they disappered and i only saw zeros. After some handling with file 2 they were shown again as 10.000, 5.555 and so on. I do not understand this and am afraid, that it will happen in future too.
